It has been a minute since I’ve written a Friday Five post, and I’m excited to be back with this one!
Expressing gratitude is one of my favorite ways to relieve stress and spread joy. Here are my favorite things of late.
This one may seem too obvious, but oh man, summer makes even the hardest teaching days worth it.
Just a few weeks into summer, I’m feeling as calm and relaxed as if I’ve spent several days at a spa (I imagine). It’s hard to beat, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my summer adventures.
2. Today Will Be Different
I recently finished her newest book, Today Will Be Different, and enjoyed it immensely.
Semple’s protagonists are all very similar, but she tells their stories in totally different ways. Her creativity and snarky tone are unique, and I love reading her novels.
3. The Rock Your Bliss Podcast
I’ve been following Rock Your Bliss, led by Jacki Carr and Mary Beth Larue, on social media for awhile. I love their mission to help others create lives they love living.
So when they introduced the Rock Your Bliss Podcast recently, I was ready to listen. I was not disappointed.
They’ve covered topics like morning and evening rituals, addiction, adulting, crafting your schedule, and creating community.
I’ve loved meeting their guests and hearing new perspectives on creating a bliss-filled life.
This is a podcast that I love listening to in the car. Traffic never feels too stressful because I so enjoy listening to these conversations!
4. Cinnamon Coffee
Cinnamon coffee is what my mornings have been waiting for since forever.
My favorite time of year is when The Roasterie comes out with their Holiday Blend, a lightly spiced dark roast.
But the opportunity to drink the Holiday Blend is short-lived, so I spend February through November dreaming of it.
But recently I found cinnamon coffee at Sprouts, my grocery store of choice, and was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t quite touch The Roasterie, but it’s a close second, and my mornings are better for it.
5. Road Tripping
I just drove to Kansas City and back to visit family by myself, and I really enjoyed my time in the car.
That straight shot on I-70 gave me a ton of thinking time, and I got to listen to some great podcasts and audiobooks.
My favorite was listening to Amy Poehler (and guests) read her book, Yes Please.
What a gem. It was highly entertaining, and the hours in the car flew by. I laughed out loud countless times and also cried a little. If you have a road trip coming up, this is the audiobook you should listen to.
